Michelle Suzanne Brians and Joshua Daniel Hanlon, both of Denton, were married June 15, 2013, at Christ Episcopal Church in Tyler. Officiant was the Rev. David Luckenbach. Chalice bearer and special guest was Joanna Martin, of Belton, Missouri.
The bride, daughter of Robin and Suzanne Brians, is a graduate of the University of North Texas in Denton and Robert E. Lee High School. She is the Head Orchestra Director at Guyer High School in Denton, sings vocal jazz in The New Collection, and plays baroque violin with the Dallas Bach Society orchestra.
The bride is the granddaughter of the late Louis “Tib” and Irene “Mimi” Gary, of St. Martinville, Louisiana, and the late Audrey “BB” and Robin Hood Brians, Sr. of Tyler, Texas.
The bridegroom, son of John and Genevieve Hanlon, is a graduate of St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, and the University of North Texas, earning undergraduate and graduate degrees in jazz piano. He now teaches privately and plays and records all over North America with acclaimed jazz artists, and other Texas treasures, including the Texas Tenors of America’s Got Talent fame, and the legendary Ray Price.
The bridegroom is the grandson of the late Gregory “Granpa Greg” and Beatrice “Nanny” Tompkins of Margree, Nova Scotia, and the late Richard “Papa Dick” and Mamie Hanlon of Canso, Nova Scotia.
The bride wore a white, A-line BMW silk satin gown by Lazaro accented with a jeweled belt at the waist and a chapel train. Her waltz-length veil was trimmed in silk satin to match her gown and she wore a white satin headband adorned with a swarovski crystal brooch. She carried a bouquet of glorioso lilies, green cymbidium orchids, dahlia, roses, and lisanthus in vivid hues.
Maid of Honor was Meredith Victor of San Diego, CA. Bridesmaids were Mary Yingst of Carrollton, TX, Kerry Hanlon of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Kimberly Bobbitt of Flint, TX, and Kristin Henze of Columbia, MO.
Best man was Stockton Helbing of Dallas, TX. Groomsmen were Chris Brians of Carrollton, TX, Jake Hanlon of Antigonish, Nova Scotia, and Gregory Coleman of Denton, TX. Ring bearer was Quentin Bobbitt of Flint, TX. Ushers were Cain Conrad of Lafayette, Louisiana, and Jeremy Atkins of Denton, Texas. Scripture readers were Denise Helbing and Gregory Coleman.
Music for the ceremony was provided by Jeffrey Ford, organist; Clare Adkins Cason and Tami Peterson, violinists, Clint Capshaw, violist, and David Cason, cellist.
The rehearsal dinner was held at the Country Tavern on Friday, June 14, hosted by the bridegroom’s parents.
The wedding reception was held at the Tyler Petroleum Club Marina on Lake Tyler. The Rodney Booth Dance Band provided music for the reception.
Following their honeymoon on the island of St. Maarten, the couple will reside in Denton.
