Denton County sheriff's investigators are working on a case involving a threat made to a former district judge on Friday.
The former judge said a letter came to her home near Bolivar. It read in part, "You have ruined my life Judge [obscenity deleted] … I'm watching you through my new 10x scope and itching to pull the trigger real soon," according to a sheriff's report.
The letter writer said he knew where she lives, which vehicles she and her family drive and where she now works.
Other reports
Oak Street at Normal Street - Denton police officers arrested four people on narcotics charges after responding to a call about a suicidal person and finding prescription and illegal drugs and an indoor marijuana garden, a police report states.
The caller said the suicidal man had an assault weapon. Officers covered the front door and a glass back door because of the weapon threat. The officer in back could see a man playing a video game in the living room. The man had a bong and a bag of what appeared to be marijuana on a nearby table, the report states.
The man would not come to the door, but in a few minutes two other men walked up. One said he was the man who had been feared to be suicidal.
The officers were worried about the reported assault rifle and went inside the apartment. In one bedroom, officers found a cardboard box taped to the closet wall with a self-contained growing system for marijuana, according to the report.
In another bedroom, they found a quantity of often-abused prescription drugs that were not in prescription bottles but packaged in small plastic bags, the report states, and they also found 94 grams of methamphetamine.
A woman who was in the apartment also had a bag of methamphetamine hidden in her underpants, according to the report.
All four people involved were charged with possession of different sorts of narcotics.
400 block of Bernard Street - A man told police Sunday that a man who bought firefighter memorabilia from him paid with counterfeit money.
The victim said he placed an advertisement on Craigslist for the memorabilia. Another man responded to the ad and came to his home and bought $50 worth of the items.
Later the man responded again wanting more items. He came to the victim's home Sunday and picked out $600 worth of memorabilia, a report states. The victim helped him pack the items and the man handed the victim an envelope when he carried the items to his car.
The victim unsealed the envelope and immediately noticed that the five $100 bills and five $20 bills were fake, the report states. The suspect came back in and denied the bills were counterfeit. He said got them from a bank ATM. He tried to take them from the victim, but the victim held on and called 911, the report states.
An arriving officer immediately determined the bills were fake. The suspect then told him that he received the five $100 bills as payment when he sold silver to a dealer in Arlington. He got the five $20 bills from his ATM, he said.
The officer did not believe his story and charged him with forgery.
10000 block of State Highway 114, Justin area - Sheriff's deputies responding to a report of an audible alarm at a convenience store found a window with a small hole apparently made with a nearby brick.
The hole was too small for someone to enter the building, but the deputies noticed a 24-pack of Rockstar energy drinks sitting inside near the hole. Six cans were missing from the case. The deputies determined that the cans were removed one by one by someone sticking a hand through the hole in the window. A passer-by stopped and reported that she had passed by earlier and had seen a man looking in the store windows.
