Denton police responded to a fight going on in the parking lot of a restaurant in the 2800 block of South Interstate 35E on Friday night.

A man told police he let his friend borrow his car and was upset when someone else drove it up to the restaurant to return it.

When the man confronted his friend, who was sitting in the passenger’s seat, about it, his friend got out of the car and tried to fight him, the man reported.

His friend then began punching and kicking the car, breaking the taillight and causing a dent, before leaving, the man told police.

The passenger-side taillight was destroyed and there was a large dent on the driver side with a distinct footprint shape, the officer reported.

Officers went to the friend’s house and asked him about the incident, the report stated. The friend told police he damaged the car.

He was arrested and charged with criminal mischief between $50 and $500, according to the crime report.

400 block of Pennsylvania Drive — A man reported to Denton police that while his car was parked in his driveway Thursday night, someone stole his wheels.

The man parked his car at 9:30 p.m. Thursday and when he came out Friday morning to go to work, the wheels were missing, he told police.

The man said that his car was on three yard blocks and one tire jack, according to the report.

He did not have wheel locks for the car, he reported, but did have them for the other two vehicles parked in his driveway and those wheels weren’t taken.

The man didn’t know anyone who would take them, the report stated.
