Blotter: Seven people charged with criminal mischief

A man reported to Denton police that he saw two men on the roof of a building near his apartment throwing tar and other construction materials into the street. One of the items — a metal pipe — ended up in his living room, shattering his window, he told police.

Police found seven people on the roof of the building in the 100 block of West Oak Street, according to the crime report.

They were all arrested and charged with criminal mischief, according to the report.

3900 block of East University Drive — The owner of a general contracting company reported to Denton police that about 1,000 feet of copper wire was taken from a new restaurant where his crew was working Tuesday.

The crew left at 5 p.m. Tuesday and returned at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday to find the copper wire missing, the owner reported

A semi-truck driver arrived just past midnight Wednesday and parked there until the crew arrived but didn’t notice anything, he told police.

The copper is valued at more than $2,600, according to the report.
