Couple’s deaths still under investigation

The deaths of two Denton County residents are still under investigation nearly a week after their bodies were discovered in the bathroom of their home, officials said.

Sandra Schultz, 49, and Amrit Lall, 68, were discovered lifeless by deputies after a neighbor called and said there was a strong propane-like odor coming from the home in the 9200 block of Clear Drive.

Troy Taylor, chief death investigator for Denton County, said their autopsies came back and no signs of foul play or suspicious activity were reported.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office is now awaiting toxicology reports that could take up to four weeks to be completed.

Sandi Brackeen, spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office, said the call came in around noon Monday after someone went to check on one of the victims who had not shown up for work.

Taylor said he expects the two, who were living together, died from inhaling noxious gas inside the home.

How the leak started has yet to be determined, Brackeen said.

Schultz, a Dallas high school art teacher, and Lall, a former Denton-area counselor, were part of the local band Iiwii Percussion, playing shows frequently at Banter, according to friends and the band’s Facebook page

Lall, co-founder of the drumming circle, was buried Saturday at Roselawn Memorial Park.

Schultz’s service, according to the band’s Facebook page, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul’s E&R Church, 6464 E. Lovers Lane in Dallas, with a reception at the church to follow.
