Blotter: Report: Man arrested on assault charge

A Christmas morning altercation ended in one arrest, police said.

A 35-year-old Denton man was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily injury/family violence in the 2500 block of Fort Worth Drive after midnight Thursday in the injury of his wife.

Police said officers responded to a domestic disturbance call after a 39-year-old woman reported she had been involved in a fight with her husband. Reports show the altercation started verbally and then escalated.

3000 block of Huisache Street — Two adults and two children were temporarily displaced from their home for Christmas Eve after a fire Tuesday afternoon, fire officials said.

The fire appeared to have originated around the fireplace, although the case is under investigation, said Kenneth Hedges, spokesman for the Denton Fire Department.

Firefighters responded to a call about 1 p.m. Tueday and found fire in the attic of the single-story brick home. The living area received some smoke and water damage because crews had to work inside to extinguish the flames, he said.

No injuries were reported. The American Red Cross assisted the family with temporary housing Tuesday, officials said.

4500 block of Odneal Road — Sheriff’s deputies responded to a a theft call about 9 a.m. Monday when someone reported a trailer and barn had been entered without permission.

According to reports, three saddles valued at more than $1,500 were taken.

Argyle firefighters responded to four fire-related calls. Argyle police assisted four agencies, three motorists and responded to two disturbance calls, 18 traffic calls, one welfare concern and one traffic transport incident.

Aubrey firefighters responded to one traffic transport incident, one fire and 13 medical calls. Aubrey police assisted one agency and responded to one ordinance violation, one reckless driver, one criminal mischief call, six traffic calls, one suspicious activity call and one traffic transport incident.

Bartonville police assisted one agency and responded to one noise complaint, one suspicious activity call, one traffic transport and one animal bite report.

Corinth police assisted six agencies and responded to one assault, three medical calls, one criminal mischief report, five disturbance calls, one report of gunshots, one indecent exposure call, two reckless drivers, seven medical calls, 38 traffic calls, six traffic transport incidents and five animal complaints.

Double Oak firefighters responded to one structure fire. Double Oak police assisted three agencies and responded to three suspicious activity calls, three traffic calls, one traffic transport incident.

Flower Mound responded to one structure fire and one suspicious activity call.

Hickory Creek police assisted four agencies and two motorists and responded to three medical calls, one auto theft, one welfare concern, 50 traffic calls, four suspicious activity calls, one report of gunshots and two disturbance calls.

Highland Village firefighters responded to one structure fire.

Justin firefighters responded to six medical calls, one illegal burn, one structure fire, one odor investigation and assisted two citizens. Justin police assisted three agencies and responded to one structure fire, one theft, one welfare concern, two medical calls, one verbal disturbance and one suspicious activity call.

Krum firefighters responded to one downed power line, one carbon monoxide or hazardous materials call and two medical calls. Krum police assisted two agencies and responded to five traffic calls.

Lake Cities firefighters responded to 18 medical calls and two traffic transport incidents.

Little Elm firefighters responded to 12 medical calls, one odor investigation and three traffic transport incidents and assisted one citizen. Little Elm police assisted two agencies and two motorists and responded to one assault, two auto thefts, one burglary, one Child Protective Services referral, one criminal trespass, three disturbance calls, one fight in progress, one report of gunshots, one report of an intoxicated person, one missing person report, five noise complaints, 13 ordinance violations, two reckless drivers, two medical calls, six suspicious activity calls, 11 traffic calls, four welfare concerns, four traffic transport incidents and six animal complaints.

Lewisville police made 23 arrests.

Northeast police assisted three agencies, four motorists and responded to one assault, two suspicious activity calls, 31 traffic calls and one animal complaint.

Northlake police assisted five agencies and one motorist and responded to one criminal trespass, one report of gunshots heard, one reckless driver call, one suspicious activity call, five traffic calls and one traffic transport incident call.

Oak Point firefighters responded to one medical call, one grass fire, one illegal burn, one structure fire and one water main break. Oak Point police responded to one grass fire, one criminal mischief report, one suspicious activity call, three traffic calls, one animal bite report and one animal complaint.

Ponder firefighters responded to one structure fire. Ponder police responded to one reckless driver.

Pilot Point firefighters responded to five medical calls and one carbon monoxide or hazardous materials call and assisted one citizen. Pilot Point police assisted one agency and one motorist and responded to one auto theft, one criminal mischief report, one criminal trespass report, one deadly conduct call, one loose livestock call, one reckless driver, one road block, one suspicious vehicle call and 10 traffic calls.

Roanoke firefighters responded to two structure fires.

Sanger firefighters responded to five medical calls and one traffic transport incident and assisted one citizen. Sanger police assisted three agencies and two motorists and responded to one criminal mischief report, two disturbance calls, four noise complaints, six suspicious activity calls, two theft calls, 12 traffic calls and 11 animal complaints.

Trophy Club firefighters responded to three medical calls and one structure fire. Trophy Club police responded to one criminal mischief call, one criminal trespass call, one medical call, one structure fire, four ordinance violations, one suspicious activity calls, 17 traffic calls, one traffic transport incident, one animal cruelty report and two animal complaints.
