Blotter: Police search for suspect in theft of tires from business

Denton police are on the lookout for a suspect in the theft of tires from a Denton business Sunday.

According to reports, someone entered through a gap in a chain link fence around the business in the 3000 block of East University Drive. Ten used car tires of assorted sizes were stolen.

Police are not sure if they are dealing with a single suspect or more than one.

Investigators found a flashlight and a couple other items in the area of the theft, and those items are being checked for fingerprints, according to the report.

 

Other reports

500 block of Inman Street — Denton police responded to a call about a group of about 35 people with four to five men reported to be fighting and one man already on the ground.

Officers arrived on the scene and broke up the disturbance.

One man was charged with fighting in public and one was charged with public intoxication.

100 block of Avenue A — Denton police arrested a man accused of damaging an ATM at a bar Sunday.

400 block of Ponder Avenue — Denton police responded to a report of a home burglary.

The victims had been out of town for about one week and noticed when they got home that someone had entered the residence through a bathroom window.

Several items were missing.

From 7 a.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Monday:

* Denton County sheriff’s dispatchers handled 1,913 service and officer-initiated calls for the agencies they serve. Thirty-six people were booked into Denton County Jail.

* Denton police responded to 698 calls and posted 45 reports online.

* Denton firefighters responded to 63 medical calls, one smoke or odor removal, two gas leaks, three smoke detector activations, two good-intent calls, a cooking fire, one vehicle accident with injuries, one false alarm, two calls to assist an invalid, two police matters and a public service assistance.

Argyle firefighters assisted a citizen and responded to five medical calls, one alarm fire, one illegal burn, one vehicle fire and one traffic transport incident. Argyle police assisted an agency and responded to 78 calls including 10 building checks and two reports of a suspicious vehicle.

Aubrey firefighters assisted a citizen and responded to 10 medical calls, one illegal burn, one smoke investigation, one report of a missing person, two odor investigations and two traffic transport incidents. Aubrey police assisted three agencies and responded to 41 calls including one report of a reckless driver and two noise complaints.

Bartonville police responded to one 911 hang-up, one report of a suspicious vehicle and 10 traffic calls.

Corinth police assisted 3 agencies and responded to eight reports of a suspicious vehicle, one solicitor complaint and one report of gunshots heard.

Double Oak police assisted an agency and responded to a noise complaint, a report of loose livestock, a report of a suspicious vehicle, 15 traffic calls and 24 vacation watch calls.

Hickory Creek police assisted two agencies and responded to three abandoned vehicles and two theft reports.

Justin firefighters responded to three medical calls. Justin police assisted three agencies and responded to one burglary report, two follow-up investigations, two reports of suspicious activity, one report of a suspicious person, seven traffic calls and two welfare concern calls.

Krum firefighters responded to six medical calls, one fire department inspection, one fire smoke investigation and one request to unlock a vehicle. Krum police responded to a verbal disturbance and a report of gunshots heard.

Lake Cities firefighters responded to eight medical calls, four alarm fires, a structure fire, a vehicle fire and a traffic transport incident.

Little Elm firefighters assisted two citizens and responded to 13 medical calls and two alarm fires. Little Elm police assisted two agencies, and responded to five building checks, two reports of gunshots and two reports of a prowler.

Northeast police assisted four agencies and responded to a road blockage hazard and two reports of a reckless driver.

Northlake police assisted two agencies and responded to two reports of loose livestock and a report of gunshots heard.

Oak Point firefighters responded two medical calls, two traffic transport incidents and a water main break. Oak Point police assisted an agency and responded to a verbal disturbance and an illegal dumping.

Ponder firefighters responded to three medical calls, an alarm fire and a vehicle unlock. Ponder police assisted two agencies and responded to two building checks, a narcotics call, a report of suspicious activity, two reports of a suspicious vehicle, 11 traffic calls, one walk through and one welfare concern.

Pilot Point firefighters assisted a citizen and responded to four medicals calls, one animal bite attack, one carbon dioxide or hazardous materials call and two requests to unlock vehicles. Pilot Point police assisted three agencies and responded to a state alcohol violation and a 911 hang-up.

Roanoke firefighters responded to a medical call.

Sanger firefighters responded to 10 medical calls, one fire department inspection, one structure fire, one traffic transport incident and two requests to unlock vehicle. Sanger police assisted four agencies and responded to an auto theft report, a report of loose livestock and two audible alarms.

Trophy Club firefighters responded to a grass fire and a medical call. Trophy Club police responded to two noise complaints, seven ordinance violations and three theft reports.
