Comments () A Text Size

Three people were arrested Thursday in connection with underage drinking.

A Denton police officer responded to a local restaurant in the 700 block of the South Interstate 35E in reference to a complaint and made contact with two females who had been identified and described by the caller. The officer observed several alcoholic beverages on the table in front of both females.

The officer asked them for identification, which they did not have. When asked, one of them said she was 24, while the second admitted she was 19. When asked again, the first woman said she was 19 as well.

The officer asked who had served them the alcohol and they stated that they didn’t know. They later admitted that it was a male waiter. The officer had to contact the manager to figure out who was in charge of the women’s table.

When asked if he had checked their IDs, the waiter said he did not, that he just believed the women when they told him they were 21. He also said he had seen the woman at the restaurant with drinks previously.

The officer placed the waiter under arrest for furnishing alcohol to minors and arrested both females for minor in consumption and misrepresentation of age by a minor as well as charging one of the females with failure to identify, giving false information.
