Two people were hospitalized and two others were arrested, stemming from an early Friday morning traffic stop, according to Denton police.

An officer conducted a traffic stop after noticing a white Cadillac facing the wrong way at West Hickory and Welch streets, according to a report. Several men were observed standing around the vehicle.

Police sad that the driver of the vehicle fled south on Welch Street at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was later discovered wrecked at North Texas Boulevard and Eagle Drive.

When officers arrived, the driver was running from the vehicle and the passenger was found lying beside the vehicle, according to the report. Both were taken to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Denton with significant injuries.

At Hickory and Welch streets, one arrest was made for outstanding warrants and another for urinating in public, police said. Charges on the driver are pending. The case remains under investigation.
