Blotter: Police investigate stabbing outside night club

One man remains in critical condition after being stabbed outside a club early Saturday morning, Denton police officials said.

Officers were dispatched at 2:16 a.m. to a stabbing outside of Club Heat, at 801 Eagle Drive, after a 35-year-old man received a laceration to his throat, according to a news release from Denton police.

Police said the altercation started inside the club and then escalated outside into a parking lot.

The injured man was transported via ambulance to Denton Regional Medical Center where he remained in critical condition as of late Saturday.

The suspect was located at a nearby apartment complex with the help of witnesses and was taken into custody. He has been charged with aggravated assault and was being held in custody pending a court appearance, police said.

The incident remains under investigation.

1100 block of Bernard Street — An apartment manager reported Friday that weights were missing from the fitness room.

The 12 weights, valued at $700, were reportedly taken sometime between May 1 and May 2, police reports show.

1500 block of South Loop 288 — A man was taken into custody shortly after 9 p.m. Friday after he violated a protective order.

According to reports, the 26-year-old man took his and his 24-year-old girlfriend’s son while she was shopping, in violation of a protective order she had obtained against him. She obtained the order after he was arrested a month ago for a family violence assault, according to reports.

*Forty-seven people were booked into Denton County Jail.

*Denton police posted seven reports online.

From Sunday, May 4 to Saturday:

Texas Woman’s University police responded to 49 calls for service and nine moving violations and made two reports, two arrests and two escorts.

Sunday, May 4 to Thursday:

University of North Texas police responded to three medical calls and one vehicle burglary and made three arrests on outside agency warrants, one arrest for driving while a license was invalid, one arrest for minor in possession of a controlled substance and one felony arrest for driving while intoxicated. They also issued one criminal trespass warning and four municipal citations for possession of alcoholic beverage where prohibited.
