A 19-year-old woman out to have some fun was arrested by Denton police shortly after she left a Fry Street bar, officials said.
Police said shortly after 2 a.m. Friday, they observed a vehicle pull past the barricades of a closed roadway in the 1200 block of West Hickory Street and saw someone get out and move to the passenger seat of the vehicle. When the vehicle was stopped by an officer, the driver was determined to be under age and to have consumed alcohol at a bar on Fry Street.
The teen also had four false temporary driver’s licenses in her purse, reports show. She was taken to the city jail and charged with driving under the influence and tampering with a government record.
1600 block of Lattimore Street — A woman reported money missing from her piggy bank Friday.
Reports show the woman, 38, initially thought her son had taken the money, but when she called the school he attends, officials reported he had been in class all day.
A report of burglary of a habitation was taken by police.
300 block of East McKinney Street — Expired insurance led to the arrest of a man for drug possession Friday evening.
Police said they stopped an older model Ford F-350 after a check of the plates indicated that the insurance had expired in March. The driver did not have proof of insurance or an ID, and appeared nervous, police said.
Police learned the man’s driver’s license had been suspended, and a wrecker was called to impound the vehicle.
When a passenger in the back seat got out of the vehicle, a small baggie dropped on the seat. The passenger then threw another baggie from his pocket onto the ground. During a search of the vehicle, police found a backpack in the front that contained .7 grams of methamphetamine and other narcotics, reports show.
The driver admitted the bag was his, police said, and was arrested on a charge of possession of narcotics. The passenger was issued a citation for possession of drug paraphernalia.
