9 a.m. — Guided hike at the Isle du Bois Unit of Ray Roberts Lake State Park, on FM455, 10 miles east of I-35. Meet at the Hawthorn campground area. Free with regular park admission, which is $7 for ages 12 and older. Call 940-686-2148.

9 a.m. to 2 p.m. — American Red Cross community blood drive in the gymnasium of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, 300 W. Oak St. Donors must have a photo ID, be at least 17 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds. Walk-ins are welcome. 9:30 a.m. — Texas Outdoor Family camping workshop from Saturday morning to noon Sunday at the Johnson Branch Unit of Ray Roberts Lake State Park, on FM455, 10 miles east of I-35. Activities include kayaking, geocaching and fishing. All camping gear is provided. Cost is $65 for a family of up to six people. For reservations, call 512-389-8903. 10 a.m. — Golf championship at Robson Ranch Golf Course, 9501 Ed Robson Blvd., hosted by the Denton Parks and Recreation Department. Awards will be given for closest to the pin, longest drive, and first, second and third place. The registration fee of $45 includes green fees for 18 holes, souvenirs, use of the driving range and a box lunch. On the day of the tournament, mulligans will be available for $3 or $5 per pair. 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. — Minor-Porter Log House open house at the Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area. Event includes instruction on making a corn husk doll. 1 p.m. — 14th annual Denton Blues Festival at Quakertown Park, 321 E. McKinney St. Music starts at 1 p.m. each day. Saturday’s headliners are Bernard Allison at 9 p.m. and Curtis Salgado and 7:15 p.m. Event includes performances by community acts, food vendors, informational and business vendors. Free. 4 p.m. — Oktoberfest beer tasting presented by the Denton Chapter of the UNT Alumni Association, at the alumni pavilion at Apogee Stadium, on Bonnie Brae Street near Airport Road. 5 to 7 p.m. — “Raccoons: Rural Rascals to Urban Bandits” part of the Clear Creek Nature Series at Clear Creek Natural Heritage Area, 3310 Collins Road. Presentation includes solutions for a variety of raccoon problems. If weather permits, attendees will hike to see rescued 6-month-old raccoons released back into the wild. 6 to 9 p.m. — “DonkeyFest” fundraiser presented by the Denton County Democratic Party at the North Texas State Fairgrounds, 2217 N. Carroll Blvd. Tickets cost $25 for adults and teens, and $5 for children 12 and younger. Event includes a live auction, music and a barbecue dinner. 7:30 p.m. — Denton Community Theatre presents Pygmalion by George Bernard Shaw at the Campus Theatre, 214 W.
