Hadlock, Sharp honor Lewsiville foundation

North Central Texas College President Dr. Eddie Hadlock and Debbie Sharp, vice president of Institutional Advancement, were guest speakers at a recent meeting of the Lewisville ISD Education Foundation.

Hadlock spoke specifically about the NCTC Flower Mound campus, which is located at Parker Square in Flower Mound. While highlighting the growth in enrollment on the campus, he also mentioned challenges that the school will face in the future including limited capacity for students at both the Flower Mound and Corinth campuses in Denton County.

Sharp presented the NCTC Foundation Founder’s Honor Circle award to the Lewisville ISD Education Foundation for its support of higher education. She also praised the relationship NCTC has with the Lewisville school district.

Grant applications being accepted for fall

In 2012, North Central Texas College received a grant through the Department of Labor to train long-term unemployed people in high-demand IT fields. To date, more than 45 students are enrolled or have completed their programs. NCTC is currently accepting grant applicants for the upcoming fall semester.

Funded by H1B Visa application fees, the grant covers training for CISCO CCNA, Network Plus, A Plus and other industry-specific certifications.

Potential students must possess at minimum an associate’s degree with work experience in one or more of the STEM fields (science, technology, engineering or math) and be unemployed for at least 27 weeks by Aug. 19. All classes will meet at either the Flower Mound or Corinth campus locations. Some classes may be offered online.
