Registration open for equine mini camps

The NCTC Equine Department will host mini summer camps this June to teach children how to ride horses, and registration is now open.

The camps are designed for children ages 8 to 15, and cost $175 a session.

The camps offered are:

• Beginner I camp, June 10-12, for children with no previous riding experience;

• Beginner II camp, June 17-19, for riders who are very confident in walking; and

• Beginner III camp, June 24-26, for riders who are very confident in trotting.

In addition to learning to ride, students will learn about horse theory, parts of the horse, parts of the saddle and equine nutrition.

To register or for more information, contact equine science instructor Bill Kaven, who will lead the camp, at 940-668-7731 or bkaven@nctc.edu.

Registration forms are available online at www.nctc.edu/AgricultureHome/EquineCenter .
