Commencement set for May 9-10

Approximately 1,585 students will walk across the stage to receive their degrees in commencement ceremonies for Texas Woman’s University scheduled for May 9-10.

Students and family members who have tickets are invited to attend the Denton ceremonies, which will take place in the Kitty Magee Arena in Pioneer Hall, located on Bell Avenue.

Receptions, with TWU Chancellor Ann Stuart serving as host, will follow each ceremony on the second floor of the Student Union, located on the southwest corner of Bell Avenue and Administration Drive.

The schedule for graduation ceremonies is as follows:

9 a.m. May 9: Academic units in the College of Arts and Sciences — Department of Biology, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Mathematics and Computer Science and School of Management including Health Systems Management.

• 1 p.m. May 9: The remainder of the College of Arts and Sciences.

• 4 p.m. May 9: College of Nursing and Bachelor of General Studies Program.

• 9 a.m. May 10: College of Health Sciences except the Dental Hygiene program.

• 1 p.m. May 10: College of Professional Education and Dental Hygiene program.

Perry appoints student regent

Candace Henslee, a junior at TWU in Denton, was appointed by Gov. Rick Perry to be the next student regent for TWU.

She will serve a one-year term. Each public university in the state has a student regent serve as a non-voting member on the Board of Regents for one year.

Henslee, from Denton, is majoring in government and focusing on legal studies. She’s a TWU Presidential Scholar, Honors Scholar and Leadership Scholar.

Her first board meeting will be June 6 at the TWU T. Boone Pickens Institute of Health Sciences Dallas Center. She is replacing outgoing student regent Joleesia Berry.

EMBA information sessions set for May

TWU will conduct information sessions about the Executive MBA program throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area during May.

The program, which offers online and Saturday classes, is designed for business professionals who want to enhance their knowledge and career possibilities.

The first session is at 6 p.m. May 14 in Room 501 of the Administrative Conference Tower, located on Administration Drive on TWU’s Denton campus.

At 6 p.m. May 20, there will be a session in the Trinity Room at the Sockwell Center in Plano, located at 6301 Chapel Hill Blvd., across from The Shops at Willow Bend.

The final session will be held at 6 p.m. May 21 in Room 2706 of the TWU T. Boone Pickens Institute of Health Sciences–Dallas Center, located at 5500 Southwestern Medical Ave. in Dallas.
