TWU Foundation gets $1.7 million from estate
Alonzo W. Jamison, a former Texas state representative and longtime faculty member, has left the Texas Woman’s University Foundation a $1.7 million gift from his estate.
Jamison served in the state Legislature in the 1950s and ’60s before joining the TWU faculty in 1968.
He retired in 1984 after serving as the chairman of the Department of History and Government for three years.
The foundation is a nonprofit that administers money for services and facilities at the university.
Professor wins national service award for work
Mary E. Casselberry Thompson, a Celina therapist and professor at TWU Dallas, won a national service award recently.
Thompson received the American Therapy Association’s Lucy Blair Service Award at the annual conference for her contributions to the organization.
