Four added to school’s Master Teachers team

Four teachers were recently added to school’s team of Master Teachers.

Developed more than 20 years ago at the school, the rigorous Master Teachers program encourages teachers to pursue excellence in their classroom instruction.

Those named were Amy Funderburk, fifth grade; Ruthie Quam, 11th-grade English; Sharon Ramsey, ninth-grade world geography and 10th-grade world history; and Cindy Sanchez, kindergarten.

To pursue the Master Teacher title, teachers must have a minimum five years’ experience in teaching a subject or a combination of subjects in an allied field at Liberty. They must also have documented evaluation of classroom management that is of exemplary quality.

Teachers applying for Master Teacher status must put together a portfolio that includes personal accomplishments and lesson plans.

They must also show their participation in continuing education and their flexibility of “stepping outside of the box” in teaching. Teachers must demonstrate the ability to work cooperatively with other professionals and have a mentor who provides leadership and support.
