Denton County Sherriff's Office deputies have arrested 19-year-old Michael Robert Goodwin and charged him with two counts on injury to a child. Felony arrest warrants were issued Tuesday morning accusing the Ponder man of knowingly causing serious bodily injury to his 10-week-old son.

Deputies reported that a little after midnight Sunday, the child was brought to the emergency room at Denton Presbyterian Hospital by his parents who reported that the infant's right leg appeared to have been injured by unknown means.

The infant was transported to Children's Medical Center in Dallas where doctors discovered a number of injuries to the child, deputies reported.

During a second interview Monday, Goodwin admitted causing the injuries to his son during a moment of anger, according to a sheriff's report.

Investigators believe that the mother of the child, Theresa McCrary had no knowledge of the assaults on her child and will not be charged, deputies said.

Goodwin was booked into the Denton County Jail Tuesday afternoon and was waiting formal arraignment.
