Acrobats earn honors at state championship

Competitive cheer and tumbling and trampoline teams from Apex Tumbling & Cheer of Pilot Point recently brought home trophies from area competitions, according to a news release.

Cheer Champs All Stars, the competition cheer teams, competed in the United Cheer's state championship in Garland on Jan. 14.

Junior Level 1 placed first in its division, winning the state title, and Senior Level 3 placed second in its division.

Individual awards went to Callee Hodnett, who won best tumbler, and Alyssa Logan, third in the best jumps category.

Team Apex, the competitive tumbling and trampoline team, competed in its first meet of the season Jan. 21 in Allen.

Brooklin Housden of Aubrey competed in the Level 10 category in the 15- to 16-year-old age group. In the preliminary competition, she came in second on the double-mini, third on the trampoline and fourth in tumbling. In the finals, she competed against all age groups in Level 10 and placed second on the double-mini, fifth on the trampoline and seventh in tumbling.

Alisha Sieber of Pilot Point competed in Level 4 for trampoline and tumbling in the 9- to 10-year-old age group and Level 5 for the double-mini. She placed second on the trampoline, third in tumbling and fourth on the double-mini.

Three girls in the 9- and 10-year-old category won third, fourth and sixth place in the Level 3 double-mini; first, third and fifth place in Level 3 trampoline; and first, third and fourth place in Level 2 tumbling.

Jack Julian of Aubrey competed in the 7- to 8-year-old boys category, placed first on both Level 3 trampoline and double-mini, and second on Level 2 tumbling.

The cheer teams are coached by Jenny Sanders and Amy Kelly.
