City crews could soon begin spraying pesticide for mosquitoes after county health officials informed them of two human cases of West Nile virus within Denton last week. The City Council authorized the measure in a special session Monday after the city’s environmental division recommended the move. The city has moved quickly through a risk-level response program in response to the outbreak, now at Risk Level 5.
The council asked staff to be as conservative as possible in spraying, making sure the pesticide is used only when the benefits outweigh the risk.
