Denton City Council member Pete Kamp has taken over as chairwoman of the Regional Transportation Council, replacing Fort Worth City Council member Jungus Jordan, whose one-year term ended this month.
The RTC, an arm of the North Central Texas Council of Governments, oversees transportation planning for a 12-county area around Dallas-Fort Worth.
Kamp, who won re-election to her City Council seat Saturday, also has served as mayor pro tem since 2006.
She was appointed to the RTC in 2004, and has held several positions, including vice chairwoman (2011-12), secretary (2010-11), nominating committee chairwoman (2009) and the bylaws committee chairwoman (2008). She also participates with the legislative subcommittee, funding source subcommittee and the multimodal subcommittee.
