Briefly in Denton: Shelter open to help homeless beat heat

An emergency shelter will be open tonight in Denton to help the homeless escape the heat.

A Serve Denton initiative, the shelter will be run by volunteers from Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Denton Bible Church. The goal is to provide food, water and a cool place to sleep for anyone who needs a place to go, a spokeswoman for Serve Denton said.

The shelter is located at 2000 Nottingham Drive.
