Burn ban in place

Comments () A Text Size

Denton County Judge Mary Horn initiated a countywide burn ban Tuesday because of dry weather and the increased potential for uncontrolled wildfires.

The restriction will ban all outdoor burning and outdoor work such as welding, grinding and cutting torch operations, and the use of combustible materials.

Violation of the burn ban is a class C misdemeanor, punishable by a fine not to exceed $500. Use of charcoal or gas patio grills and smokers is allowed if they are covered at all times and are clear of vegetation and combustibles by 5 feet.
