Denton firefighters were still working on a two-alarm fire late Thursday night that heavily damaged the Explorer USA RV Super Center in the 4000 block of Interstate 35E.

Fire department spokesman Brad Lahart said the blaze was called in at 9:05 p.m. to the RV sales and service business on the east side of the interstate south of State School Road and north of Shady Shores Road.

Firefighters were able to contain the damage in a little more than an hour, but the spokesman said units would remain on the scene for most of the night putting out hot spots.

“There was a lot of fire in the building,” Lahart said. “And northbound traffic on the interstate was shut down for a time and we had a long traffic buildup.”

There was no word at the time about a possible cause of the fire, but Lahart said there were no injuries. The extent of the damage had not been assessed Thursday night.

Fire marshals will investigate Friday morning to try to determine the ignition point and cause of the blaze.
