During its regular meeting Tuesday night, the Denton City Council also:
• Approved the purchase of county-owned land at the corner of McKinney and Oakland streets for $779,895, directing city staff to prepare an ordinance to repay the appropriate account if the land is not ultimately used by the city.
• Amended the current budget by $1,428,251 to meet unexpected health care costs and by $460,884 to fund red-light camera costs.
• Held a public hearing and approved the designation of the Victorian-era home at 903 W. Oak St. as one of the city’s historic landmarks.
• Adopted an ordinance revising the fats, oils and grease control provisions for city restaurants.
• Approved offers for about 35 acres of right of way needed to expand South Bonnie Brae Street for $324,191.
• Approved offers for about 4.2 acres of right of way needed to expand Mayhill Road for $645,124.
• Approved purchase of sewer easements in the 3900 block of South Interstate 35E for $291,344.
• Approved the purchase of several art objects and accepted the donation of several others.
• Approved an interlocal agreement with the city of Highland Village for a teen court program.
• Approved $24 million in revenue bonds to be issued by the Housing Finance Development Corporation of Central Texas Inc.
• Approved a four-year contract with the Stuart C. Irby Co. for $230,000 for a fiber optic cable supply.
• Granted an exception to the noise ordinance to 35 Denton for the Hot Wet Mess music festival at the North Texas State Fairgrounds on Sept. 1.
