Food pantry seeks donations of items

The Health Services of North Texas food pantry is in need of donations.

The food pantry feeds more than 300 low-income people in five counties, and most clients have illnesses, said James Taylor, nutrition center coordinator.

Many clients live alone, and the items provided by the pantry are the only food they have access to on a continual basis.

The pantry’s current needs include canned fruit, vegetables, meat and boxed cereal. Cash donations are also accepted and allow the pantry to purchase specific items needed.

People can take donations to the pantry, located at 4210 Mesa Drive in Denton, between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, Taylor said.

Companies, businesses and restaurants that want to support the pantry can call Taylor at 940-381-1501, ext. 109, to make arrangements.

The pantry cannot use food items that are past their expiration dates, Taylor said.
