Blotter: Business owner reports someone shut water off

The owner of a business in the 1500 block of Spencer Road reported to Denton police Monday that someone turned the water to his business off during the night and cut the metal pipe connecting the vacuum breaker, which was missing.

The owner couldn’t think of anyone who would want to do this, he told police.

A city employee told police the suspect knew what he was doing because if he hadn’t turned off the water line, the area would have flooded after the pipe was cut.

The breaker, valued at $300, was found in the parking lot on the side of the business, the report stated.

The owner told police there also had been copper wire inside the breaker device.
