U.S. Highway 380, west of Interstate 35W, has reopened near Ripy and Smith roads Monday morning after a construction company hit a natural gas line, forcing the highway to be closed.
The incident occurred shortly before 9 a.m., about 1,800 feet west of Ripy Road, authorities said.
Witnesses reported a large plume of gas visible in the area drifting around right after the accident.
Traffic has been rerouted along Jackson Road.
The Denton County Emergency Management department, The Krum Fire Department and the Denton County Sheriff’s Office responded.
