Bridge expected to be closed after accident

Corinth police said they expected that the Corinth Parkway bridge over Interstate 35E will remain closed Thursday night after being struck shortly before noon by an 18-wheeler.

A representative from the Corinth Police Department said at about 1 p.m. Thursday that the bridge was closed in both directions and one northbound lane of the interstate had been shut down while workers cleaned up debris from the accident, but the lane has been reopened.

Texas Department of Transportation investigators were expected to inspect the bridge late Thursday to determine whether it would need to remain closed until repairs could be made.
