A man told police Wednesday that a stranger he caught in his garage waved as he fled with an air compressor.

The man said he was inside his house in the 3400 block of Mustang Street when he heard a noise in the garage. He went outside and found a man there holding his air compressor. The man ran to a red single-cab pickup and jumped inside, the victim said. He waved at the victim as he drove away with his property.

Other reports

600 block of East Hickory Street — A man called police Wednesday to report that someone gained access to his financial information.

The man said his bank called two weeks ago to notify him that his account might have been compromised. He checked and found nothing amiss with the account at that time, he said. But on Tuesday, his bank called again to notify him of some suspicious activity. He checked the account and found his card information had been used in California and in Canada without his consent.

600 block of East Hickory Street — A man came into the police department Wednesday to report that he believes his brother used his Social Security number to open an account with a telephone company and then did not pay the telephone bill.

He said he was trying to make changes to his own account and was told that he could not because he owed money on another account. He has had no contact with his brother in two years, he said, but he believes the sibling stole his identity to open the account.
