Police listened to the stories of two groups of women early Friday and decided that a case of mutual combat had occurred at a Denton club.
An officer on foot patrol in the 100 block of Avenue A heard women yelling at other women who were walking away from the club. He inquired about the problem.
One of those women said she was assaulted by one of the women in the other group. She said she was minding her own business outside the bar when the woman walked up behind her and hit her in the ear.
That woman, who was found at her home later, said the incident actually happened inside the club and she hit the other woman because she was talking to her boyfriend.
Employees inside the club said they were not sure what started the fight but that both groups of women were fighting on the floor and they kicked all of them out of the club.
The officers found no sign of injury to the woman who claimed she had been assaulted. They decided that no arrests could be made because of the lack of evidence.

A search of the area yielded no glider and no evidence, according to the report.
