The bodies of a man and woman who died from apparent gunshot wounds were discovered at about 2:48 p.m. Monday at a residence in unincorporated Denton County by Denton County Sheriff’s deputies.

A deputy was making a welfare call at a residence in the 10,200 block of Lakeview Drive in Providence Village, a development located off East U.S. Highway 380, when he found the bodies.

Denton County sheriff’s department spokesman Tom Reedy said the department had received only one previous call from the residence, at 11:40 a.m. on Saturday.

“We received a call from a woman saying she was trying to get in to get her stuff out of the house,” Reedy said. “We sent an officer out there — there was no alcohol or anything involved. They were having an argument and they both agreed to separate and stay with friends until later. There was no assault or anything.”

According to Reedy, the sheriff’s office received a call from a person who was supposed to meet the woman early Monday morning, but the woman did not show up. The caller said the woman’s car was in the driveway but no one answered the door.

The caller said that a neighbor had heard what were described as “thumps” and “door slamming” sometime between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m. on Monday.

Names are being withheld at this time pending notification of next of kin.
