A one-vehicle accident resulted in death Sunday evening.
According to the Denton Police Department, a man was traveling southbound on the Interstate 35 service road between U.S. Highway 380 and Loop 288 when the vehicle left the roadway to the west, striking a utility pole while going through a fence.
The impact with the pole spun the vehicle and caused it to flip several times, ejecting the driver, police said.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the man as 24-year-old-Denton resident Everado Avila-Pozas. According to medical examiner reports, Pozas died of blunt force injuries to the head.
Police are still investigating the cause of the accident.
