Brian Lockley has been named director of planning and development for the city of Denton.
Lockley, who has been serving as interim director of planning and development, will immediately take on the job of overseeing planning and development operations for the city, including the following divisions: planning, development review, building inspections, code enforcement and community development.
Lockley has been with the city since 2005, having served as development review administrator, planning manager and plan implementation coordinator.
Prior to Denton, he was employed as a senior planner for Commerce City, Colo., and for the city and county of Denver, Colo.
Lockley has a bachelor’s degree in urban and regional planning from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.
He also has a master’s degree in public administration with a concentration in urban management from the University of Texas at Arlington.
He is also a certified planner through the American Institute of Certified Planners and is a certified public manager through Texas State University.
He is a member of the American Planners Association and has presented at state and local planning conferences.
Lockley and his wife have three sons.
