Services have been planned for Denton firefighter Michael Bell, 49, who died from gliosarcoma, a form of brain cancer, Sunday at Medical City Dallas.

A funeral procession will begin at Denton Central Fire Station located on 332 E. Hickory St. at 10 a.m. Monday leading to the memorial service at Denton Bible Church starting at 10:30 a.m.

Denton Bible Church is located at 2300 E. University Drive.

According to the Mayo Clinic website, gliosarcoma is a relatively rare malignant neoplasm accounting for about 2 percent of all glioblastoma cases.

One of Bell’s wishes was to be cremated and have his family and close friends scatter his ashes in some of his favorite places, stated a release on Bell’s death by the city.

That will take place in private at a later time, said Fire Chief Ross Chadwick.

In January, Bell would have celebrated 20 years of service with the Denton Fire Department.

Fire departments wishing to be part of the memorial service may contact Deputy Chief Kenneth Hedges at 940-349-8832 or at
