Authorities have identified the 25-year-old man who shot and killed himself in Vista Ridge Mall Monday afternoon.

Thaddius Lee Davis, of Lewisville, died after shooting himself once in the head with a 9mm handgun, said Troy Taylor, the chief death investigator with the Denton County Medical Examiner.

Davis was involved in an argument with a female employee at a mall kiosk before he shot himself while being escorted out of Vista Ridge Mall in Lewisville, police say.

Shortly after 4 p.m. Monday, Lewisville police were sent to the mall at FM3040 and Interstate 35E and learned a woman was having a verbal argument with a male acquaintance.

According to witnesses at the mall, Davis was begging the woman to take him back, but it was unclear what their relationship was.

Mall security arrived to escort Davis from the property, and he removed a handgun from his clothing and shot himself, according to Capt. Kevin Deaver of the Lewisville Police Department.

Deaver said Davis only shot himself and no one else was injured.

The shooting occurred inside the mall entrance closest to the Cinemark Theater.
