A University of North Texas student is listed in serious condition at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas after a fall from a stairwell at the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity house Saturday.

Dustin Starks, a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity, was originally transported to Denton Regional Medical Center after his fall early Saturday morning, said Brad Lahart, a battalion chief with the Denton Fire Department.

UNT police and the Denton Fire Department responded to the house in the 900 block of Maple Street around 4:20 a.m., Lahart said.

Kelley Reese, spokeswoman for UNT, said university officials are in contact with Starks’ family.

“We are keeping them in our thoughts and prayers because Dustin and each one of our students is a member of our family,” Reese said. “And we are very concerned for his wellbeing.”

UNT police are still investigating, Reese said.
