University of North Texas alumnus Lecrae Moore, a Christian rapper known as Lecrae, won “best gospel album” at the Grammy’s Sunday.

Lecrae, who graduated from UNT in 2002 with a bachelor of applied arts and sciences degree, won for his album Gravity. He helped found Reach Records, the label that produced the album.

According to his biography on Reach Records’ website, Lecrae “took to rapping as a way of communicating his thoughts.”

He gave his life to Christ at age 19 and while he was attending UNT, he printed and passed out his testimony across campus, his biography states.
