Multiple Denton County law enforcement agencies are participating in the “Great Texas Warrant Roundup,” which begins today.

The roundup is designed to target thousands of people who have outstanding traffic, parking, city ordinance, penal code and higher-level warrants.

Arrests are expected to continue for several days.

Hundreds of thousands of notices were recently mailed statewide by more than 300 agencies to people with outstanding warrants, according to Lewisville police.

Anyone with an outstanding ticket of any kind is urged to contact his or her local agency immediately to make arrangements to avoid arrest.

Corinth police Warrant Officer Michael Fraga said his department, along with the Hickory Creek and Lake Dallas police departments, are attempting to clear 11,800 warrants, with fines totaling $4.9 million.
