Daylight Savings Time begins at 2 a.m. Sunday, which means people need to set their clocks forward one hour.
As people spring forward, The Denton Fire Department and the Federal Emergency Management Agency are encouraging everyone to check their smoke detectors.
Smoke alarms significantly increase the chances of surviving a deadly home fire and now is a great reminder to make sure you have a working smoke alarm in your home, said a news release from Denton Fire Department.
The following tips to check your alarm include:
Test and clean your smoke alarms on the first of every month
Replace the batteries at least once a year
Place smoke alarms on every level of your residence and in every bedroom
Check the manufacture/expiration date on the smoke alarm
