Ginnings Elementary School, located in the 2500 block of Yellowstone Place, was locked down for about 30 minutes Monday after school personnel encountered a man they did not recognize, according to Denton police.

Officer Ryan Grelle, spokesman for the Denton Police Department, said school employees confronted a man and asked if he needed assistance. The man replied “no” and that he was on his way out of the building, Grelle said.

As a precaution, the school was placed on lock down around 10:10 a.m. and Denton police went from room to room at the school to ensure no one suspicious was on campus, he said.

“We found nothing suspicious,” Grelle said.

The lock down at the school has been lifted and officers were in the process of “clearing the scene” shortly after 11 a.m., Grelle said.
