Lewisville police have arrested a man Wednesday after he reportedly fired several rounds in an apartment complex parking lot in the 1200 block of Lakeview Circle the night before.

Lafayette William Robinson, 23, was charged early Wednesday with deadly conduct, police said.

His bail is set at $100,000.

Capt. Kevin Deaver said police dispatchers received numerous 911 calls around 7 p.m. Tuesday night after several people heard gunshots near their residence.

“We were responding to a deadly conduct call,” Deaver said.

A deadly conduct call occurs when shots are fired at or in the direction of another person, officials said.

It is a third-degree felony, according to the Texas Penal Code, and punishable with two to 10 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.

Deaver said after the shots were fired, two men, one of those being Robinson, ran into an apartment and barricaded themselves inside for more than three hours.

A hostage negotiator from the Lewisville police SWAT team communicated with the men until they agreed to surrender.

Deaver said the apartment’s tenant was not home, but that at least one of the men had permission to stay at the residence.

Officials said they received many conflicting stories during the overnight investigation about what occurred at the scene and what the motive was, if any, behind the shots being fired.

Deaver said police are looking for an additional suspect they believe triggered more gunfire.

No injuries have been reported.

Officials said the case remains under investigation.
