Blotter: Police arrest man on two charges Thursday

A 38-year-old man was charged with public intoxication and child abandonment or child endangerment shortly after midnight Thursday, police said.

According to reports, officers went to the 1800 block of North Elm Street in response to a traffic hazard. Initially, police said the owner of the vehicle was arrested on public intoxication charges. The suspect later reportedly told police he had left his child at home without supervision, and he was then charged with child abandonment also.


Other reports

200 block of East Sherman Drive — A driver fled on foot after he crashed his vehicle into a telephone pole, police said. The crash, according to reports, involved one vehicle that failed to negotiate a curve and crashed into a concrete telephone pole at about 8 p.m. Thursday.

Police said witnesses who called 911 to report the accident reported that the driver, a 32-year-old man, fled on foot toward Loop 288. The driver, reports stated, was found in the 600 block of East Sherman Drive. After investigating, police charged the man with driving while intoxicated and unlawfully carrying a weapon after a .357 Magnum revolver was located inside his car.



From 7 a.m. Thursday to 7 a.m. Friday:

Denton County sheriff’s dispatchers handled 809 service and officer-initiated calls for the agencies they serve. Forty-two people were booked into Denton County Jail.

Denton police handled 208 service and officer-initiated calls and posted 23 reports online.

Denton firefighters responded to 23 medical calls, one fire, one trash or rubbish fire, one passenger vehicle fire, one electrical equipment problem, one defective elevator and three vehicle accidents.

Argyle firefighters responded to two medical calls, two structure fires and one traffic accident. Argyle police assisted one agency and responded to 10 traffic calls.

Aubrey firefighters responded to one disturbance, four medical calls and two traffic accidents. Aubrey police officers responded to one forgery call, 10 traffic calls and assisted one motorist.

Bartonville police responded to one traffic call and one traffic accident.

Corinth police assisted three agencies and one motorist and responded to one criminal mischief report, two disturbance calls, one road block, two suspicious vehicles, 35 traffic calls, one welfare concern, three traffic accidents and nine animal complaints.

Double Oak firefighters responded to one medical call and two structure fires. Double Oak police responded to three traffic calls.

Flower Mound firefighters responded to three structure fires.

Hickory Creek police assisted two agencies and one motorist and responded to one traffic call, one suspicious vehicle and one traffic accident.

Justin firefighters responded to one medical call. Justin police responded to one criminal mischief in progress, one road blockage and one traffic call.

Krum police officers responded to two harassment reports, one ordinance violation, six traffic calls and one vehicle complaint.

Krugerville police responded to five traffic calls and one animal complaint.

Lake Cities firefighters responded to five medical calls, one welfare concern and one traffic accident.

Little Elm firefighters responded to four medical calls, one illegal burn and one domestic disturbance call. Little Elm police made one arrest and responded to eight burglary reports, one criminal mischief report, one domestic disturbance, one illegal burn, one harassment report, two ordinance violations, six suspicious activity calls, two theft reports, 17 traffic calls, three traffic accidents, three animal complaints and assisted three motorists.

Lewisville police made eight arrests.

Oak Point firefighters responded to one disturbance call and one traffic incident. Oak Point police responded to one burglary in progress, two disturbance calls, nine ordinance violations, one theft report, eight traffic calls, one vehicle complaint, one traffic accident and assisted three motorists.

Pilot Point firefighters responded to two medical calls. Pilot Point police responded to one burglary report, one traffic call and one welfare concern.

Sanger firefighters responded to two medical calls, one domestic disturbance and one traffic accident. Sanger police assisted one agency and one motorist and responded to one road blockage, five traffic calls, one traffic accident, one animal complaint and two suspicious activity calls.

The Colony firefighters responded to four medical calls.

Trophy Club firefighters responded to one alarm fire, one water main break and assisted one citizen. Trophy Club police assisted two citizens and one motorist and responded to eight ordinance violations, three suspicious activity calls, five traffic calls, one traffic accident and two animal complaints.
