Blotter: Theft charge upgraded to robbery in Lewisville

Comments () A Text Size

A 27-year-old Lewisville man had a theft charge against him upgraded to robbery on Tuesday in Lewisville.

Capt. Kevin Deaver, spokesman for Lewisville police, said that at around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, detectives were at a discount store in the 100 block of East Round Grove Road on an unrelated case when they noticed a loss prevention officer speaking to man about a theft. Police said the man had taken a watch and media cards.

“He noticed the detectives and tried to flee the store,” Deaver said.

Police said the suspect ran into a woman and a child at the entrance of the store before he was taken into custody.

Because the woman was slightly injured during the course of the theft, the charge against the man was upgraded to robbery.
