An investigation is underway after a blaze destroyed a single story home Tuesday evening near the old Justin Time airport, officials said.

Jody Gonzalez, the county's fire marshal, said he believes four pets perished in the fire. The three adult occupants of the home, he said, were in town having dinner when the fire began.

The fire started inside the home and was reported at 5:24 p.m. when someone noticed heavy smoke emitting from the property off Sam Reynolds Road.

Justin, Ponder, Roanoke, Flower Mound and Argyle Fire Departments worked together to keep the blaze under control, officials said.

Gonzalez said friends are helping the displaced residents have a place to stay.

There were no reported injuries to any person at the scene, officials said.
