The 600 block of northbound Interstate 35E  is reopened after being shut down for more than two hours, police said.

At  1:24 p.m., Denton police responded to a motor vehicle accident call in the 600 block of  north I-35E in the southbound lanes.

Shane Kizer, spokesman for the department, said the accident involved a semi-truck and a passenger vehicle.

“The vehicle was wedged under the semi and the passenger was trapped,” he said.

Kizer said once extradited from the passenger car, the person was transported to Denton Regional Medical Center as a precaution.

Within minutes, a second accident occurred in the northbound lanes of the 600 block of I-35E involving a Buick and Nissan Altima. Both lanes of traffic were closed upon arrival, officials said.

Kizer said two people from this accident were transported to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Denton; their injuries were unavailable.

The cause of both accidents are under investigation.
