A pay increase is on the way for employees with the Ponder school district the 2013-14 school year.

According to Superintendent Bruce Yeager, teachers will receive an average 1.56 percent increase, and all other employees will receive an additional $50 per month. The increases are being implemented to assist employees with increased health care costs, Yeager wrote in an e-mail.

He wrote the district is projecting an increase of $101,000 to the 2013-14 budget for teacher pay increases and $106,000 for all other employees. Last year, the board approved a 3 percent pay increase for all district employees, Yeager said.

The Ponder school board must adopt the 2013-14 budget prior to the new fiscal year beginning Sept. 1.

The pay increases were approved at a June 20 school board meeting.

The board also approved districtwide computer infrastructure upgrades. Yeager wrote the district would spend approximately $100,000 for “cabling, wireless access point replacements and upgrades and support hardware to accommodate full network access by all students in all classrooms at all times.”
