Corinth police are looking for an inmate who escaped from custody early Sunday morning.

The man, whose identity has not been released, was under arrest on a public intoxication charge, a Class C misdemeanor, when he slipped out of his handcuffs during transport, police said.

Corinth police Capt. Greg Wilkerson said the patrol car was parked at the sally port of the Denton County Jail when the incident occurred.

A search was conducted after the escape and the suspect was nowhere to be found.
