A woman met with officers at the Denton Police Department on Saturday to report that she had allegedly been assaulted at her apartment complex by an unknown suspect, according to a police report.
The woman told police that at about 3 a.m., she was at a swimming pool in the 1300 block of Dallas Drive, according to the report.
She said the suspect asked for her phone number, but he became upset when she refused and they began exchanging words.
As the woman attempted to leave, the suspect grabbed her from behind and put his hand around her throat, according to the report.
The woman told police that she broke free and tried to flee, but the suspect tackled her.
A friend of the woman saw what was happening and as he approached, the suspect left the scene, according to the report.
The case is still open and pending. No arrests had been made at the time the report was filed.
9100 block of Teasley Lane — A man reported that two men allegedly took more than just the payment for cable installation at his house Saturday, according to a police report.
The man told police that while he was at a friend’s house, two men came to install cable at his home.
The man said that he had left his wallet on a counter dividing the living room from the kitchen in his house, and that evening, he realized that about $100 was allegedly missing from the wallet.
The case is still open and pending investigation.
200 block of East Hickory Street — A vehicle traveling the wrong way on a one-way street prompted an officer to quickly pull the motorist over and perform an investigation to see if the woman was driving while intoxicated, according to a police report.
The woman was arrested and charged with DWI. A passenger in the vehicle also was arrested and charged with public intoxication, according to the report.
While collecting the driver’s property at the jail, the officer found several prescription medications in her possession that were not prescribed to her. The driver was then charged with two counts of possession of dangerous drugs and one count of possession of a controlled substance.
