Krum High School senior William Wojciak was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance on Wednesday.

According to Texas Department of Public Safety spokesman Lonny Haschel, the Krum resident was pulled over for a traffic violation at the intersection of Loop 288 and U.S. Highway 77 at 1:20 p.m. Wednesday.

Wojciak, who goes by “Caz,” was scheduled to be the team’s starting quarterback this season but was removed from the team Friday, Krum head coach Gary Robinson said.

Haschel said the officer spotted probable cause during his interview with Wojciak, and the 18-year old was taken to Denton County Jail.

Wojciak was released on $1,000 bond on Thursday, according to jail records.
